Swim, Bike, Run. Then write about it.

T- 37w 5d

Well, the fates aligned and both Joel and I brought gear, cleared our meetings and made it out for a run!

To clarify though, Joel brought runners but instead of his run bag grabbed his swim bag. Conveniently I found him an office t-shirt and he was able to run in his swim shorts. Like I said yesterday, one of the two of us usually forgets something.

So, up on to the treadmills today as we weren’t going to run in the great outdoors at -1c with Joel in swim shorts. Joel is just starting back to running and I’d sorta planned for him to hit a series of 3 and 1s while I did a steady run. The treadmills are good for that sorta thing as two runners with disparate speeds can still run together and get a good workout. Joel had his Wheaties though this morning and was up doing 5 and 1s and kicked in 4km in 28:50, give or take.

My plan had been to do a fastish tempo run. 5 minute warm up at 5:00/km, 5 @ 4:40/km, 5 @ 4:20/km, 5 @ 4:40/km, and a 5 minute cool down at 5:00/km. This wasn’t my day. I wound up doing 5km in 24:25 at a 4:53/km average speed. 5@5/km, 5@4:40/km, 5@5/km, 5@4:40/km, 1 minute walk, 1@5/km, 2:25@4:40/km.

The long and the short of it though is that I did get a nice 5km run in, even though I thought my legs were going to fall off. I guess the two days on the weekend were enough for me to need a change up of more than one day doing nothing.

I REALLY want to get back in the pool, more than I want to get up on my bike oddly enough. But I miss it and feel that I’m falling behind.

I wound up chatting with an old friend on Facebook this evening and it’s left me remembering the feeling of being young. The single minded drive and ambition. I also remember how much deeper I was, how much more I believed in how things work together.

I’m not sure what I enjoyed more, chatting with Elizabeth or remembering myself from years ago. Even toss I guess.

Nutrition has been OKish today though, and that’s a good thing.

Breakfast:
- Carnation instant breakfast w/ skim milk

Snack (0):
- 1 Bottle vitaminwater

Lunch:
- Two sandwiches with meat, cheese, mayo and mustard
- One banana

Snack (1):
- One can of Coke
- One apple

Snack (2):
- One small bag of Cheetos (I have an unhealthy addiction to these)
- One can of Coke

Dinner:
- Chicken with rice and beans.

So, all and all, not so bad. And I have more chicken for lunch over the next couple of days.

    So, you have food 5 times a day. You can change the food items with some alternative just to change the taste.
