T- 7w 5d

Getting up in the morning has seemed less important to me in the past few days. I just want to wake up, roll over and go back to bed. I’m not sore, overly sleepy or otherwise unable to get up, I just don’t want to.

Late afternoon I had an appointment with the Chiropractor and I’d hoped that he was going to do some active release magic stuff and fix the problem I’ve been having in my lower glute and knee.

He poked, prodded and had me do all sorts of different little things before he diagnosed that I’m fucked. Actually, it wasn’t all that bad, but he did note that my hip flexor and glute area is incredibly tight and there is some deep set pain that causes spasms.

Long and the short of it is that there is no quick fix. He figures that we need to do between 4 and 6 sessions and then re-evaluate. He has a good reputation around the folks that I know from the Running Room so I’m willing to believe that he isn’t just full of shit and give him the benefit of the doubt, and my money.

Tonight’s exercise was a swim up at Sasamat, the familiar 2km loop. Tonight the Garmin had me pegged at 2.49km. So, not exactly great for me, means I was an extra 500m over. But the time was just under a 45:00 swim time (45:53 total time). I’m on track for doing the Osoyoos 2km swim in my goal time of 40:00.

I wasn’t going slow in the water today but I wasn’t pushing like a race either. I also had to deal with extra distance due to some bad sighting (although not horrible). This weekend in Osoyoos I will be pushing and I’m planning on being in the main pack wave so I won’t have as much problem sighting (find a body, follow it).
