T- 8w

EDITED: Forgot the jam in the recipe, oops.

The plan for this morning was to get out on the bike for a couple of hours and then do the 16km run at the Running Room with the group.

I swapped the wheels last night, fiddled with the brakes and gearing, tentatively planned out a route and went to bed.

At 7:45 or so I climbed out of bed and realized that I was not biking this morning. OOPS.

There were a couple of reasons not to though so it isn’t just as if I slept in.

1. Brakes are still a bit off, I need to do a full adjustment. I’d simply worn too much off the old pads and putting the new pads on with the slightly wider rim means it has to be done.
2. Gearing isn’t perfect. It shifts, but I know I can tweak it a bit better.
3. My glute is giving me problems. I haven’t been to see anyone yet (going tomorrow hopefully) since the problem started and I know that during/after my run today it was sore.

Mostly though, I didn’t set an alarm and clearly that means it wasn’t that important to me.

It’s early afternoon yet, perhaps I’ll hit the gym for a 1 hour tempo on a computer cycle, we’ll see.

I did get a good 17km run in with the RunningRoom group this morning though. As usual we started with a hefty climb that seemed to just keep on going. I start with a high heart rate (not that I remembered to wear the monitor this morning actually) in general and going up that hill either makes me or breaks me. I need to remember that you don’t do your best with positive splits and just go slower to start. Once I get that through my thick skull I’ll be in a better place.

While I was out I stopped at Safeway to pick up some chicken for dinner and while walking through the deli saw a pasta salad that looked rather tasty. Bombay Chicken Pasta Salad. I decided to give it a try and a sample was enough to encourage me to pick up a container for a late lunch/early dinner.

I also decided to go for it myself and make my own for lunch tomorrow.

I asked what was in it and guessed at the amounts.

Well, mine isn’t the same as the one from Safeway, but I like it a heck of a lot better.
