Woke up still procrastinating over doing spinning. The truth is that I find it boring to do alone. Having a group with me on a ride is motivating. Spinning in my living room is not. So, instead of spinning I thought I’d do some yoga since I received a couple of dvds over the holiday season (thanks Carly!).

Turns out my wrist won’t do yoga. Oh, I’m sure there are poses, moves and transitions that I can do wonderfully, but the dvd started with breathing (I can do that) and transitioned into first upward facing dog? and then downward facing dog?. I was able to do them but it quickly went from uncomfortable to painful on my wrist. Well, fuck.

So I hopped up on the trainer and kicked in a spinning dvd instead. I didn’t do a lot, only 33 minutes which included warm up and cool down and totaled 16km (ug, that’s pathetic!), but instead of just going out hard and steady I followed the drills on the dvd. It was mildly better than just following either a straight and steady spin or doing the coach given exercises on my own, but it still wasn’t exciting. Mind you, trying to juggle the x-box controller (I was watching on the x-box) on my bike while spinning was sort of entertaining until I fast forwarded through one of my rest periods (small front ring / 15 tooth rear ring: 80-85rpm).

Bah, who said it was all supposed to be fun anyway, a lot of training is work, I just need to suck it up and get through the boring parts to where I’m good at it. That has it’s own pleasure and excitement.

I pushed myself out for a swim today and invited the ex, Sheryl along. The pool was just swamped with people doing lessons though, so all ideas of a normal swim were just shot out of the water (so to speak). I did get in for a set of 100s though totaling up to 1600m (1mi).

Most importantly, I forced myself to do some kicking drills with the kick board. Guess what? I still suck with one of those. I was better with fins and the kick board, but even that was slower than my normal swim speed. Ah well, at least the work was done.

Nutrition today was pretty damned good right up until my post swim snack. I ate too much at lunch, but that’s a better time for a big meal than at dinner, so that’s not horrible.

Breakfast:
- Protein Shake (protein powder, banana, yogurt, water)

Snack (0):
- Can of Orange Juice

Lunch:
- Leftovers (rice, chicken, re-fried beans, cheese, peppers, chili peppers). Admittedly too much in one sitting though. Stuffed.

Snack (1):
- Large sour candy

Dinner:
- Bag of salsa salad

Snack (2):
- Left over candies (juicee fruit slices). Starved after swimming.
